Different Types of GeM Bids and Procurement Methods

GeM (Government e-Marketplace) offers various types of bids and procurement methods to streamline the purchasing process. Bidding types include Open Bid, Limited Bid, and Direct Purchase, each serving different needs. Open Bid allows any supplier to participate, while Limited Bid restricts participation to selected vendors. Direct Purchase is used for small value items. Procurement methods like Request for Proposal (RFP), Request for Quotation (RFQ), and Direct Purchase are employed based on the complexity and value of the items, ensuring a transparent and efficient procurement process.

Various Types of GeM Samadhan BIDs

Standard BIDs with Bunch and BID+5

The buyer can initiate a BID for a product category on the GeM Portal, create a bunch BID for multiple categories, and add five additional parameters if needed for vendors to confirm product compliance.

Tailored BIDs on GeM Portal

If the product category doesn’t exist and the buyer wants to create a BID, they can generate a custom BID. This allows the buyer to request a custom category, letting vendors upload products and participate in the BID.

BoQ-Based BIDs on GeM Portal

If no products are available in a category and the buyer wants to combine products and services, they can create a BoQ. This allows vendors to participate in the BoQ BID based on the technical requirements specified.

Various Types of RA on GeM Portal

The GeM Portal offers various types of Reverse Auctions (RA), each designed to meet different procurement needs. These include the standard RA, where vendors bid lower prices, and other specialized formats tailored to specific categories or requirements. Each RA type allows buyers to efficiently select the best offers based on price and other criteria, ensuring competitive pricing and transparent procurement processes. These types provide flexibility for buyers and vendors, enhancing the auction process on the platform.

Standard Reverse Auction (RA)

If the buyer knows the base price, they can choose Regular RA, where vendors quote discounts, and the highest discount becomes the L1.

BID to RA on GeM Samadhan

Buyers can select "BID to RA" to allow 50% of the lowest-priced qualified vendors to participate in the RA, with only financial evaluation.

GeM RA with Multiple L1 Bidders

In the best price option and regular BID, if multiple vendors quote L1 and RA is not opted, the system allows the buyer to initiate a reverse auction
